This page contains the information needed to contact the cohort by email or join a Zoom meeting – see the links below.
Links to the masterwork pages for year one and year two are located on this page. Click the cover and find more detailed resources for each title, including transcripts and any downloads specific to discussions about that work. The same holds true for any additional masterworks analyzed, and any additional materials we look at in association with them.
Year 1 masterworks include JANE EYRE, THE AREONAUT’S WINDLASS, and THE NAME OF THE ROSE, and we’re working on assembling all the transcripts, cohort work, master scenes, transcripts, and other items that can’t now be found on the StoryGrid website for all cohort members.
The Year 2 Master Works (CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS, and THE OLD MAN AND THE SEA) are also compiled here. Each resource will live on a page specific to the Master Work, and all pages will have a standard format.
PRIDE AND PREJUDICE is our first StoryGrid masterwork outside of the first and second years, with the genre twist on PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES, but all items associated with the original masterwork will be on a single page, under the COHORT WORK banner (after all, zombies are involved!)

This page contains our own analyses (not of masterwork assignments but if we apply StoryGrid principles to WIP or other masterworks)
May 28: Review of the PRIDE AND PREJUDICE Foolscap
June 4: Jo will be traveling; review of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE continues with emphasis on moving from the second middle build into the final payoff (see the notes about this in the cohort work page)
June 11: Jo is back to review the construction of the “setups and payoffs” of the second half of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE
A NOTE TO EVERYONE: Zoom was running out of storage for recordings, so at the moment the links to the chats are broken. I will spend time over the next few weeks taking the downloaded files and uploading them here so they have a permanent home on this website.
As a retelling of the BEAUTY AND THE BEAST Trope, the cohort chose to look at the structure of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE. Because this masterwork is retold in multiple ways, the cohort was specific about moving into another genre retelling of the same story: PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES (which is a 3 book series
